1996 Chevy Cavalier

I bought this car 5 days ago and I went to start it this morning and my check engine light is on as is my theft system light. I do not have a keyless entry or alarm system that I know of on it. It would not start, finally it did but the lights stayed on and it ran very rough, the speedometer was not working it was spinning around everytime I stoped at a light. Please help

Pull the OBD2 code/s from the computer Autozone can do it for you free service and comeback with it.

Well I did try to get it scanned but now the check engine light is off and my car is acting normally. The could not come up with any codes. What could make my car act crazy like that then be fine after sitting for about 5 hours.

Could be a glitch in the computer and just correct itself out-who knows could be a fuel pressure or ignition problem. Being an intermittent problem hard to say where its coming from if its not coming up from the computer-
