1995 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl 100000 miles

i'm getting a creaking sound coming from under the hood i suspect it the fan belt what can i do to repair?

Spray it with water or wd40 if noise stop or change
I say change the belt if no change keep on looking for the source of the noise
