I was told by a reputable local mechanic that the reason the AC wasn't working was the compressor was bad (refrigerant leaked out due to bad bearing). I decided to replace it and convert to R134a, so I ordered new o-rings, port adapters, orifice tube, lubricant, refrigerant, accumulator and a remanufactured compressor . I already have a vacuum pump and flush gun. The accumulator and compressor were from what I thought was a reputable on-line parts house, but the first accumulator was very obviously a return of a used one and the second one was a return of one that wasn't used, but was returned because someone broke the plastic plug in the inlet trying to get it out. After that, I don't trust the compressor and would like to know if there is a way to bench test it before I go to the trouble of installing it.

Not without a machine to hook it up to to spin it and see what kind of suction/discharge you get from it.Personally, this is why I only install OEM parts, the less expensive ones always seem to cost more in other ways
