What must be done to get both drive axles to come out of the transmission? What needs to be taken out or removed so you have enough room to slide the axles out of the transmission. Your answer would be VERY HELPFUL!! Brad Reddy.

The axles are secured in trans, by a retaining ring, they pop out, usually a prybar against the tripod side and trans. housing.

On the wheel side, remove tie rod end, ball joints, brake calipers (do not disconnect brake hose), brake bracket, axle bolt and swing knuckle out enough to get axle shaft out of hub.
New axle will slide in trans. side and pop into trans. It is retained by a small ring on shaft that fits into groove inside trans.
