I need the head gasket replaced on the car, according to the local chevy/gm dealership. They quoted me $600, so i've looked into doing it myself. What other options do i have? Any close years of other cavs that i can pull from?

You "may" be able to determine the O2 CIRCUIT that is bad, not necessarily the sensor itself, by having the codes read.
