1991 Chevy Cavalier Why is my car running rough

Engine Performance problem
1991 Chevy Cavalier 6 cyl Automatic 145000 miles

This car was setting for 2 years, and when I got it, it was missing a spart plug and it needed a rubber incert; that I put in. I changed the oil the and rest of the spart plugs. I also changed the oxyen sencer. The car is now runninng rough and smock comes from the back of the exalts muffler and iddling kind of bad.

Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following:

1. Defective spark plug
2. Inadequate spark/coil, defective spark plug wire.
3. Lack of compression
4. False air leakage.
5. Faulty fuel injectors.
6. Insufficient fuel pressure.
7. Contaminated fuel.
8. EGR valve that is leaking.
9. Oxygen sensors.
10. Throttle position sensor.
11. Idle air control valve.
