1991 Chevy Cavalier Radio Problems

I went out and bought a new stereo for my 1991 chevy. The person who had it before me, also had a newer radio and we had to cut the wires and match them correctly. We thought we did everything correct, and when we were done we turned on the car. It comes up like it turned on and says AM 12:00 but ANY button you press shuts it off and then starts back on. I have no idea what we did wrong! We went over all the wires and made sure they were touching and everything was correct but it still didnt work! Please help! =[

May do this if you have switched power but no constant power?

Yeah.I used that diagram when I was putting it together. Everything is connected correctly. And no wires are touching.
