1989 Chevy Cavalier Fuel Pump

I put in a new fuel punp about two weeks ago and now when the tank gets to 1/4 of a tank of gas it begins to cut out but I know therem is still gas in the tank because it I put in more it gets full at about 12 gallons. What could be the problem
