I have a 1989 z24 cavalier with a 2.8 6 cyl. It started out that it ran fine until it got warm then shut down. When it cooled it ran until it got warm again. Now it turns over but wont start. I have bought an ecc, icm, and new coil packs, but still no fire. I have checked the fuses and the relays with no luck any help is greatly appriated. I checked the service codes and it is ecm code 43.

Hi:
Have you checked the crank position sensor (CPS)? That could be causing the problem. What is interesting is that a code 43 is the knock sensor which can really play with the timing, but I can't believe the car wouldn't start. When you say no fire, do you mean your not getting spark? If so, my guess is the CPS.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Yes when I said no fire I ment no spark. We changed the crank position sensor and that was the problem. The old sensor had a crank in the end of it. It runs great. Thanks for all your help it is greatly appreciated. I will use this website for all my future help.
