Engine Cooling problem
1994 Chevy Caprice V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I am having some weird problems with my 94 caprice classic. When the car's thermostat reaches near halfway, the check engine light comes on and both radiator fans turn on. My dad and I replaced the thermostat in the car (we weren't having heat either so we went for it first) and still the car is showing it is getting hot. I tried doing to the paper clip 'check codes' however when I do so, the engine light does not flash and the radiator fans turn on full blast instead. Anyone have a clue on what is happening?

When you did the paper clip was it placed between the last two trems. top row? Maybe faulty PCM temp sender located near thermostat housing
