1993 Chevy Caprice i think it might be my transmission

1993 Chevy Caprice V8 Automatic

Hi I have a 93 Chevy caprice that came with a 305 but swap out for a 350ho that came out of a 89 camero. The motor is fine but for some reason after I Drive the car I say about 20miles I start hearing a loud grinding noise and it sounds like it coming the rear but its hard to tell the only thing I really know is that after it starts grinding it will only grind going forward not in reverse I don't even have to step on the gas. And I also had smoke coming from under the car what could it be

check the metal spacer between the trans and eng they get bent sometimes and cause this
