Heater problem
1992 Chevy Caprice Two Wheel Drive

Hi
I turned on the defrost and there was smoke coming from under the dash along the floor. When I shut it off it stoped. Havent truned it on again. But now that winter is on its way I think we will probably need heat. Any ideas on whats wrong, how to fix it and what it will cost ( cheeply). Im hoppen to make this car last till spring then maybe I can afford to get amother car.

Hope you can help.

Possible faulty heater core. Turn the heater to defrost for a few seconds, do you notice a film collecting on the windshield along with a sweet smell ? This is coolant being blown in from a faulty heater core..you can bypass the core (no heat) or you can have the core replaced at a shop usually costs around $600 for this repair though..(dash has to be dismantled)
