1989 Chevy Caprice transmission problem

my 89 caprice will go fine in first gear then when its time to shift into second gear, it just wind and not move.can my transmission be fixed or do i have to replace it

It can be rebuilt but most cases a replacement trans is less costly and more so with Chevy
