1987 Chevy Caprice Starting

Hey Again i have a 1987 chevy caprice and when i go to crank my car up after it has been sitting for a few hours it takes awhile of pumping the gas and then trying to crank it before it cranks up but after that it drives great my carb doesn't have the choke on it and im hoping thats the problem thanks for your time

Is this a carbuerator or an EFI fuel system? If its a Carb it needs a choke plate-otherwise it will have a hard time starting-the engine needs more fuel during cold starts thats the job of the choke plate.
