I have a 1987 4.3 V-6 Chevy Caprice with 184,000 miles. The engine was replaced about six years ago with a brand new one. One day while trying to get the car to move on slippery pavement, the gas gauge went all the way around and now is stuck at full. When i turn the car off, it moves to the half full position, but that is the only time it will move. How could i fix this gauge and make it work again? Please help

check the wiring by the gas tank to make sure one did not break or ground out. If one can not be found then you might have to take the sending unit out of the tank and have it checked.
