1986 Chevy Caprice V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

my car jump timing and i bought a new chain and gears i installed them and set both arrows facing each other but my vehicle wont start how do i set the timing on the distributor

make sure the harmonic balancer is on 0 and your on the compression stroke for #1 cylinder(this is done by removind #1 plug and bump the key until you get compression out of the spark plug hole) line the rotor up with the #1 spot on the distributor cap and see if she runs
