1984 Chevy Caprice V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i just replace my wind shield wiper motor and when i turn the wipers on i just hear a hummy noise can you tell me what's the problem

either the motor is bad,
is the wrong motor (as if you have delay wipers and the motor does not)
or you hooked the linkages up incorrectly
