Poor little V6

I have a 92 Camaro RS with a 3.1. Mileage=194,000. This car is my life. Right now it's in storage with the need of a new starter (this will be the fourth one I've put in it), new tires, and another tune up. My little V6 engine needs to be put to rest but I don't have the money to put a V8 in it right now. It was rebuilt just before I got it years ago. The idle is set really high. I can't even sit in traffic for two minutes before it starts revving. (I hit the gas quickly and it stops.) But I'm afraid to touch it because I have a feeling it was set that high for a reason. I guess my question is, why is my camaro going through so many starters and how do I fix the idle without ruining my car? Should I just start a seperate savings for getting a V8?

Check the trottle linkage at the throttle body. There should be a adjusting screw to lower the idle. Did this high ideling just start or has it been that way since you got the car? Try cleaning the throttle body out with throttle body cleaner, could be a little carbon build up. With the price of gas, and speculation is it will be going up higher, how much more gas will the v8 use. Have the starter checked out, there has been times even new or rebuilt parts failed.

'92 camaro RS mileage:194,000 Thank you very much. Yes the idle has been high since I've had the car. As soon as I get it out of storage I will take the starter out and take it to the local napa. This starter will be the 4th one that's been put in this car in the past 3 years. Its rediculous. The car sits from the beginning of November to the end of April too. And I don't see how I could get a faulty starter every time.
Well, thank you again and I will do my best to answer other people's questions but I'm not exactly the most knowledgable girl when it comes to cars.
