fuel pump 1996 chevrolet camaro

I have a 1996 camaro rs with 60000 miles on it and ran out of gas. Now it wont start again is it possible for the fuel pump fuse too burn out before my pump does?

Do you hear a humming noise when you turn the key on?
Fuses and relays usually go before the pumps go.

I ran out on the freeway and haven't had a chance to checkthat yet. Tried to start it and it cranked but wouldn't turn over.
