I have a 1992 Camaro with a built 305 TBI in it. It has a 700R4 auto tranny. The car has 140,000 miles on it. While shifting from second to third the motor revs a bit. Even under gradual acceleration it is noticable. Under hard acceleration it is quite a bit worse. Is the tranny slipping between gears causing the rpms to increase suddenly? Is this really a problem? Some input would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you may have some excessive clearance in that 3rd clutch assembly. Most likely due to clutch wear. What does the fluid look like? Does it smell burnt? You cold pull the transmission pan down and see if you have alot of clutch material in it and check for metal aswell.
