fuel pump relay?

not sure what the problem is not really enough info but the filter is directly under driver sides door dont be directly under the filter that when you start this guide can help with how to test the fuel pump relay and the location on the relay in the diagrams below.

On our 1998 Chevy Camaro I am going to change the fuel filter today. I was looking on the z28 camaro forum and the guy said that you can pull the fuel pump relay then crank the engine for a few minutes and it will get rid of the gas in the line. Is this true if so is it safe. Thanks.

I looked at a 3.8L z28, yes sir, that will work. Or you can pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it.

Have no power to Fuel Pump. Replaced fuel pump relay and fuses.

The computer energizes the fuel pump relay for 2 secs and that's it to prime the fuel system-if you're looking for power at the fuel pump connector-you're not gonna have it after that 2secs- When the engine fires up the oil pressure sending unit powers the fuel pump. see below

does the check engine light come on when you turn the ignition to run? do you have any power at the fuel pump relay with the key on?

im having trouble locating the fuel pump relay on my 1994 chevy camaro v8 and how do i check it ito see if its bad im not getting power to the fuel pump

First check the fuel pump fuse in fuse panel in drivers' side end of dash. The relay is located behind the dash near the fuse panel, and is wired to that fuse. Pull the relay and see if it is the same as used by the fog lamps If they are the same, exchange your fuel pump relay for the fog lamp relay located under the cover of the fuse block near the air filter's location, and with the ignition key turned on, temporarily turn on the fogs. If they operate as normal, your fuel pump relay is good. It is your fuel pump electrical connections, or the pump itself that will be suspect, if the fuse and relay are good. A clogged fuel filter could prevent the fuel pump from sending fuel even if there is a signal from the PCM, just as a loose or broken wire could cause a loss of power to the fuel pump. Check those items too. The fuel filter should be replaced every 2years or 24000 miles, to achieve maximum life from the pump and fuel injectors. Sooner, if needed.

I have a 3.1(v6) 92 Camaro runs great until a few weeks ago.. no fuel is getting to the injectors...first replaced fuel filter [maybe being clogged] .. Then a new fuel pump relay ... [no good] ... So replaced the fuel pump.. [ that was no fun...] but horribly the car still wont start!!! i now found out that the relay isn't getting any power !!! did a small test [giving the relay power straight from the battery ] and the car started and ran =)... So i think it just doesn't have power... all my fuses are good and brand new computer... so if anyone could tell me where the relay gets it's power from... i would really be greatful

It gets its power from the fuel pump inline fuse 20amp orange wire.

There is an in-line fuse coming off battery junction block

Hello, there two sources of voltage for the fuel pump relay. Voltage for the load side of relay comes from an inline 20 amp fuse, maybe located under the hood, passenger side front, probably attached to the fender lining, you'll just have to look. The other source, for the coil side of relay comes from the pcm. This info also shows an oil pressure switch in the fuel pump circuit, once you crank it enough to bring up oil pressure, the switch closes and the pump gets voltage even without the relay. The o/p switch and load side of relay gets voltage from the same fuse already mentioned.

The other source, for the coil side of relay comes from the pcm. This one will be coming from the PCM dark green wire ckt 465 that powers the coil side from there it will power the gray that goes to the fuel pump when the switch side close. The OPS is the additional power when the engine cranks and build up oil pressure above 4psi.

Theres fuel to the injected carburator but no fuel comes out injectors. Is there a fuel relay & where would it be. Thx.

Welcome to the forum, I'd use a gage and check fuel pressure. Voltage to the injector/s goes hot when you turn the key on, the computer pulses the ground to open and close injector, engine cranking.

The fuel pump relay is underhood, driver side firewall, C3 in the picture.

How much fuel pressure should I have in a 1991 camaro, I believe it's a 350

My info says, 34-47 psi.

I tried starting the car with a dead battery and used a charger with high amperage boost. I burned out the headlights during a power test. I replaced the battery, and will not start. No fuel pressure. all the fuses test OK. there is power to the fuel pump relay, and works if jumper wired. Used a code scanner , with " will not communicate with the vehicle"Do you think I burned out the power control unit? Where is it located ? How can i test for power to it? Thanks for your help.

a big no no with computer controlled cars is to NEVER leave the key on while the vehicle is being jumped. Always wait until the power is connected before turning the key on due to voltage spikes. BUT, check by your starter or where the large battery cables go(positive) to see if you have a fusible link that has burnt up. that protects your car for things like this.......you'll see it it is smaller wire connected to bigger wire and it will lookburnt up . they are available at auto parts stores...
