where is the knock sensor located and how much should I expect to pay to have repaired? Also will failure of this part keep engine from starting? Thanx.

Hi jim pickral and welcome to 2carpros

Also will failure of this part keep engine from starting?

The knock sensor's job is to retard the ignition timing if it senses spark knock/detonation-it will not prevent the engine from starting-You might have to double check again. Did you run a DTC check and came up with the KS?
