Good morning, I just purchase the vehicle and i can see dried oil only on passenger side valve cover. But my main concern is it leaks oil, the transmission is all wet along with crank. It seems to come from top of transmission because the sides are so wet it is the only area that is clean. I have taken it to two shops and they can't say for sure if it is the rear main seal, the back intake gasket or the crank seal, does any of this sound about right? if so about how much would something like these cost? thank you for your time and consideration.

First thing you should do is get a can off engine brite. Clean the engine real good. Then if you can get a ultraviolet gun Or have ashop do it for you put die in the oil. You can get it from napa make sure its the die for oil not coolant. pour it in the engine and run it till it leaks a bit then turn on the light and you will see the leak light up neon in color.Just call around for a shop that has aleak detector light or maybe you can rent one. If you buy on there kinda expensive.
