I have a 1996 5 speed v6, the problem is when i shift from 1st to second gear it pops back into neutral. I don't know if it goes in second briefly then pops out or if its never going in, in the first place. when it does this and i try to shift it in gear the second time it will go in. I don't have this problem when shifting into any other gear, or down shifting from 3rd to 2nd only from 1st to second. also it seems worse if you shift from 1st to 2nd below 3000 rpm. Is it the transmission ? or the clutch? or the gear box, lol help i really don't know anything about cars execept how to drive one. :0

Well if you dont know anything about cars this is not the job to learn on. It sounds like it could be a bad syncro or syncro spring. Those transmissions are touchy, they do like to be shifted at higher rpm's. Your best bet is to take it to a gearshop, not aamco, and let them test drive it and diagnose the prob. Its always hard to diagnose without driving and looking at the car. Good Luck, Rod
