why does my convertible top power down fine but cannot close

THe same motor does both jobs. The polarity is reversed to reverse the engine. Check to see if the motor is getting power when you try to put up the top. If it isn't, chances are the switch is bad.

if the top powers down the motor is functioning.the question is whether the motor is weak or is the cylinder not functioning properly. i am have the same problem with my 2002 camero.
