Engine problem
1995 Chevy Camaro 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 142 k miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
my daughters camaro is now making a loud rattling sound, it always kinda had one that u could hear slightly, but now its really loud. it sounded like the converter plate was maybe loose and needed tightening, but hence my question. apparently it has gotten worse cause when she pulled up in it, i heard it with my car door shut. should we just relplace it and what does the repairs consist of . parts? cost? any idea?
its just my daughter and i , [img:a3dff7cc04]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/149524_caddilac_sf_009_1.jpg[/img:a3dff7cc04]and i see their faces light up when we walk in, foaming at the mouth type of look.. now normally id like that attention but not when it comes to repairs... HELP .. what do i say and how so it would appear i know what im talking about???

a bad cat converter makes some differnt things. 1. it can rattle like marbles, 2. it gets red hot and smells like rotten eggs, 3. completly cloggs causing back pressure making it so the car would loose power,
One has to find about where the rattling sound comes from to say exactly what it is, I agree with blackop, check the heat shields first, then if neccesary then look at the converter

I agree on the shields fisrt, you can get a couple of large 16" hose clamps that can wrap around it and stop the nosie if that is what is turns out to be.

BTW your daughter is very pretty.
