When I try to start the car it starts and runs only for about 10 seconds then stops, when this happens I noticed the AMP meter drops all the way down in the red. I don't think the battery is dead because the car will sart again but dyes after about 10 seconds. The alternater has been replaced within the last 8 months. ( 2 new alternators in the last year and a half). I have also noticed in the last month that I have little heat(may be totally unrelated) Could you help me please.

It sounds like the alternator is shorting out internally did you replace it will an AC delco? if not that is your problem.

Here is a guide to help you test it to confirm and how to replace it if it fails.
