ok....I'm having a problem. I shift out park into drive it goes into drive, but when I shift it back it stays in drive. The gear selector cable has to be pushed back into park under the car. The stupid cable will not let me put my car back into any other gear. How can I fix this?

you wil have to replace the cable, unless the linkage holding cable to shifter came off, remove the cover over the shifter and look inside, tell us what you see.

I can see whenever I shift it to another gear that its still connected. Next to the spring there is a black plastic cylinder that is in a metal plate, but when I try to shift it back it comes out of the plate and the cable sticks.
