ok so i know it seems like alot of miles, but the engin was replaced almost 150,000 miles ago. Ok so when i start the car 1st thing in the morning, a cloud of white smoke comes bursting out of the exuast. It smells like exaust but if I start it again in about 30 minutes no white mystery cloud appears but give it about an hour and what do you know its there again.

White smoke usually indicates there is coolant getting into the combustion chamber (bad head gasket). Have you had to add coolant?
