Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Chevy Camaro V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have 1988 iroc-z camaro. It has a throttle body injected (tbi) motor and I know the original motor was tuned port injection (tpi). The engine idles fine but when I press on the accelerator at around 3500 rpm my engine makes a (sputtering) sound continiously and constantly falls on its face.I cant go past 20mph. Whats my problem?

ecu?
prom?
fuel pressure?

please help!

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires

I do believe the gas currently in the vehicle is old, how would I remove it? And would I have to clean the gas tank?

Get a siphoning device and drain it all out and put fresh fuel and see what happens. Also check fuel pressure and fuel filter

I finaly did a compression check and found no compression on number 5 iknow its not somthing you wanna hear but thats what I ran in to. I also work at an auto parts store and in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 other guys with the all late 80s camaros doing the same thing yours and mine are doing
