The car just failed the smog test with a CO emission of 0.92 @15 mph. Troubleshooting revealed a leak in the intake manifold gasket at the head near the #1 cylinder. The car has recently had a new EGR valve (<100 miles) and, not too long ago, a new Oxygen sensor (<10,000 miles). The leak is not noticable in the car's idle. I assume the car is compensating for the leak when the control loop is closed. But, can this kind of leak cause the CO emission problem that was measured?

Thank you in advance for any light you can shed on this.

Regards,
Mike.

Yes it can, you may also check the other vacuum lines for leaks as well. Usually a rich mixture is caused by a vacuum leak 99% of the time.
