my altanator onley charges when i put the left wire facing in front of the car on the battery.My battery goes dead over night when i hook that wire back up

Hello, the brown wire at the connector should be excite voltage. Without that the alternator won't charge. If the alternator is causing the battery to run down, it may be a faulty diode.

Any wire your talking about, can you give us the wire color?
