I am trying to fix up my boyfriends old car. Before I take it to a mechanic, i want to have an idea of what to ask them. When you cut the motor, it continues to clunk and shake and rattle for about 3 mins. Any ideas?

Possible causes idle to high, timing to advanced or carb bleeding over. Also carbon deposits in combustion chamber
