Hello, me and a friend have recently purchased a 78 camaro with a 305 "soon to go" and a bad th350...we went to the local wrecking yard and pulled a th350 out of a 4 door 77 malibu....when we took the transmission out of the camaro, the tail shaft was about 6 inches too small, i was wondering if we could swap the tail shafts or if the 77 malibu drive shaft would work?

yes, but the output shaft has to be replaced too.

to do that you have to completely disassemble the transmission.
