1969 Chevy Camaro water leak from timing cover

I have a water leak from the bottom of the timing cover. What could be the cause of this?
Also, how can I find out the year of the engine block?

Check to see if water pump to block gaskets are not leaking. look just after cylinder head bolted to block I think drivers side should be numbers stamped these will tell year of block
