Hi all,

I checked out coil; is ok, can someone advise how I should trouble shoot;

Engine will turn over
Coil is Ok
Fuel flow is Ok

The engine was running fine with no issues until I had to leave it set for few weeks; any ideas or how I can trouble shoot any addition ingition possible issues.
Again the engine turns over just fine.

Got spark out of the distributor to the plugs? Might have a problem with the points.Try using an emery board (nail file) to gently clean them, gap should be between .016 and .018 if I remember correctly, been a long time. Might want to look into an electronic ignition for that beast, it will run much better and be more reliable. Had a 68 SS myself....... nothing better than 1st Gen Camaros.

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know the emery board did the trick - awesome - I had done all but that!! Now I have another issue; my Generator Light is on; how can I trouble shoot; also sorry to be a pain; but I pull out center console to check wiring and found no wire connected for battery (amp) or temp guage; can you advise where these item ran to (connection); I do have tech manaul for car (electrical) but doesn't go there (The manual I have is made by Chilton). With all the success you have given me I would lv to donate some $

Was the car equipped with the gauge option? If so the fuel gauge would be in the console and the "tick-tock-tach" would be in the dash where the fuel gauge probably is now. You need to get the wiring diagram for the car. Classic Industries in Huntington Beach, California is a good source for what you need. You can wire the console gauges to work, but the correct dash and harness would be ideal. Since the car has been sitting, I would try a voltage regulator if it was charging when you parked it, the contacts in it are probably dirty/sticky like the points were.
