I returned home recently and when I tried to open the rear window and tailgate it would not realease.

When I push the button I hear a sound like a motor running but nothing happens.

How do I get the window and door open manually?

Sounds like the linkage came apart from the release motor to the latch or the latch is failing. About the only way to get it open in that case is to GENTLY remove the interior trim panel and release it manually. 2004 MAY have an access panel behind the raised carpet trim panel.

I found the manual release acess but it did not open the window.

It makes the same noise as pushing the botton outside.

You should be able to reach up in there and trip the latch for the glass itself. There is a rod that will be to the left of the latch. It runs down to the motor that pulls it when you hit the release button. Or find the release motor and follow the link to the latch. Either way will work. A mirror and small light are VERY helpful to see whet your doing.
