How do I get the door panel off to change the window regulator? Are there special tools? I am mechanically inclined, an electrician and I think I can do this repair. Thanks Bob Doss

FIrst you have to pull the door panel off and clean out any broken glass. The you will have to take all the rivets out of the regulator in order to be able to maneuver the regulator to line up with channel of the glass. THis video shows the job being done on a similar car, it shows the steps.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Good morning,

Maybe but needs to be confirmed.

What you need to do is to remove the negative battery cable and put a voltmeter in line. Red lead on the cable and black lead on the battery post. Set the meter to DC amps.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

You should have no more than 50-75 milliamps. If you have more than that, remove the fuses one by one until the reading drops to within specs. Then let me know what fuse is the issue and I can get you the components it powers.

Interior problem
1999 Chevy Blazer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Recently my rear power window was smashed out. When I replace the glass, do I have to drill the factory rivets out of the motor bracket to replace the glass?

Hi:
If the motor was damaged, yes. Drill out the rivits and replace them with nuts and bolts. If it wasn't damaged, you should be able to replace the glass without removing it.

Pull the boot back and check for broken or frayed wires between the driver's door hinges.

Is there a lock-out at the master switch? If the lock-out is set, the other window switches may not work? Also use a voltage tester at the power window circuit breaker, should be hot/voltage with key on.

When you try to operate window, is circuit breaker hot to the touch? If it trips, none of the windows will work.

You need to check the wiring circuits yourself. Caradiodoc is correct, sometimes those wires do break. Hinge side of door.

Is the power window circuit breaker getting hot, when the problem occurs, feel of it? If the circuit breaker trips, none of the windows will work, at that moment. Just a thought.

take it to a auto glass shop, because teh urethane that you need to install it is way to exspensive as well as the activator to make it work right.

This was the wrong place to go for help, Im not going to load a junk car on a trailer and haul it 20 miles to a glass shop, just to have them remove the glass, I don't mind taking the one to them that runs, thats why I asked for help on removing it. Sure didn't take muck talent to come up with that answer, hell my wife could of come up with that.

the reason i say go to a glass shop is that usually when glass gets old it breaks when you try to remove it. You may bo to a junk yard and see if they have one already taken out for you. If you are bent on replacing ityourself then go ahead and get one from a junk yard, Make sure to do this outside as the chemicals that are required are not the best ones to be around. When you take out the old glass you'll need a heat gun to help you get through the old urethane as it gets very hard after time.

Wasn't too hard to do, took a while to carefully cut out the old glass, a tube of urethane cost $18.00, Window is also held in place with 8 clips so I didn't have to use tape to hold it in place till urethane dried. Think I'll do the windshield next, it has a small crack in it and I can get a new one for $68.00,
