Fuel pressure regulator?

I have an 02 blazer, it would stall while driving, just quit. I replaced 2 fuel pumps in 6 mos. The car would hesitate prior to stalling. I put fuel injector cleaner in the gas and it ran for about 2 weeks when it stalled again yesterday. It seems that if you let the car sit for awhile and cool down it will start and run again. This is and intermittent problem. After talking to several people I was thinking of replacing the fuel pressure regulator but I cannot seem to locate where it is. I have asked at auto zone and Murrays and they cant find it either. Can anyone tell me where to find it and how to do it? Thanks

To find the fuel pressure regulator you will have to take the Plenum off...... it is located in the center of the picture....

I have a 4.3 6cyl. 2000 chevy blazer with the vortec. The regulator I hate to say is under the manifold with the spider injector. Im having the same problem with mine. The engine cranks but wont start. The pump is working and the filter was changed. Good luck Ive learned my lesson with this Chevy. Here are diagrams to help you see what I am talking about. Check out the diagrams (Below)

Under the upper section of the intake manifold. On the rear of the injector assembly. If it was mounted on the front you could change it without opening the intake.

I tooked my car to the mechanic two weeks ago. The car had its tune up and a week later, they replaced the gas regulator, because had a gas leak problem. After that the Engine Soon Service light came on. The codes problems are P0171 and P0174, which means the engine is running lean. The mechanic check the vacuum lines, clean the inyectos and clean the oxygen sensor. But the light is still on. Could you help?

Most likely when he replaced the regulator(which he had to remove the intake plenom) he damaged the intake manifold gasket and he should take care of the repair if he is reputable. Let me know how you make out

My Blazer is hard to start (can smell fuel when trying to start) and doesn't have much pickup when accelerating. I have been told it need to have the fuel pressure regulator replaced and this is very expensive. Is this correct and how do I know what it should cost?

May want to start with replacing the fuel filter first. clogged fuel filter could cause these symptoms. if filter is clean then a bad fuel pressure regulator could definitely cause these same symptoms. estimate is below for having your vehicle's fuel regulator replaced.

I dont think its the injectors, at least not yet. Sounds like your on the right track with the pressure regulator. I would check the fuel filter first before going to the regulator. If the filter has been changed and still acting up. While the car is running. Pull the vacuum hose off of the pressure regulator, there should be no fuel leaking out. If so, the diaphram is at fault, replace it

Bob and Ken,

Thanks - used your service to debug my "rough start - gas smell" problem to a leaky fuel pressure regulator in my CPI. I replaced the regulator and the car ran perfect - problem solved! But hold on - after just one hour of driving I'm back to the exact same problem all over again. Looks like the root cause is something else breaking the pressure regulator. Could this be excessive fuel pressure from the pump? Is there some part of the CPI that could cause this?

95 chevy blazer, 4.3L V6, VIN "W", 150K miles

thanks in advance for you help

paul

Does your 95 have the aluminum upper plenum on the intake? If so, they had some other problems with the fuel lines inside the intake getting leaks, this could be why the problem came right back. You can remove th eupper intake and turn the key to "on" position to look for fuel leaks. You will probably have to clear the PCM afterward
