Chevy Blazer knocking.

Engine problem
2002 Chevy Blazer V6 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 105000 miles

I can hear a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. After looking around the engine I beleive it to be a problem with the oil pump. I've located the oil pressure sending unit to test this theory. The problem im having is, that when I unplug the harness to the unit, the car wont start. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or new theories about this problem. Thank you

Yes, the oil pressure sensor is used to cut the engine fuel pressure to help save the engine when no or low oil pressure is happening. I would use a jumper wiring in the oil sender to help get the engine running here is the location so you can check it out. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
