where is the cam sensor located

I believe it is in the distributor, three wire connector.

Jdl is correct. The cam sensor is inside the distributor body. Pull the cap and rotor and you can remove the sensor. BUT follow the proper method to install it or you will set a code unless you're VERY lucky.
