I have a brand new battery in my 2000 Blazer that has about 124,000 miles-bought used. The problem I am having is the battery is dying and won't open the doors or start but when I get it jumpstarted the cables are barely even on and it starts right up and the voltage meter on the dash says it is at a 14. I don't have anything in the truck that would be sucking the power so I am thinking maybe a bad altenator? Any ideas and suggestions?

Do a current draw test first, hook up an Amp meter between Bat (+) and power cable, with key off and doors closed you should only have.1 amps flowing, if more disconnect alt cable if amps drop you have a faulty diode in the alternator, if ok, pull fuses to isolate high draw circute. Have alternator tested as well.
