Greetings. Chevy Blazer has difficulty starting may take upto 3 sets of 5-10 second cranks before it starts. Once started runs smooth with the exception of the inital start. Engine has maybe 30-40 seconds of really slow nearly no pick-up then seems like pressure kicks in and the truck runs great at all speeds until you turn it off and let it cool for a while. It's not loose gas cap, fuel filter, throttle position sensor (all changed/adjusted). Approximately 1.5 years ago the fuel pump was replaced and that seemed to fix the problem back then, but now its resurfacing again. Local mechanics seem dumbfounded as the issue is not presenting any codes except for occaisonal low pressure code. I think I need a new fuel pump again but I'm no expert. What say you?

Could be the fuel pump, fuel pump relay or the fuel pump and oil pressure sending unit.

I went through the same problem and found that the fuel pump I purchased was good for about 1yr. I purchased a better brand which ran me about $100.00 more but it also put higher pressure out which solved my problem. Delphi makes about the best after market pump for blazers due to the high psi required to start them.

Greetings,

Well I had the fuel pump changed and problem went away for 2 days....back again all be it not as bad starts right away, but still sluggish on first take off. To fix it I allow the Blazer to run for a couple of minutes at idle before I go. Mechanic says it might be the spider injectors, but I don't think so as the car idles very smooth like new and once warm there is no problem.
