my truck is stuck in 4 wheel drive on the driver side front tire, the mechanic told me i need a new diferencial because it is locked up. but i was told that it could be the vaccume line. we bought a new switch and all the lights on it still light up, but not all the time, most of the time. what should i do?

I would pull the vacuum actuator and verify it is functioning. If it is, you can manually move the lug that the acuator moves and see if disengages the front axle. If you can't move the link while moving a wheel back and forth, you probably have internal damage. Hope this helps.
