Welcome to the forum, your taking your chances with a used fuel pump. Always use a gage and check fuel pressure when you suspect a fuel issue. Also, that spider fuel system, fuel pressure can be critical. Sometimes the fuel poppets get stuck open or closed.

2002 Chevy Blazer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Is there a fuel sensor for this year? Blazer ran out of gas, I put gas it turns on but does not stay on. I'm told it needs a Fuel pump very costly. What do you think this could be?

need to prime the system back up and get air out. cycle the ignition key on 10 seconds, off 10 seconds , on ....several times. this will kick on and off the fuel pump, pushing the air out of the system. see if this helps..

If you mean how to disconnect fuel lines you will need a fuel line disconnect tool which most auto part stores should have.

will a fuel pump out of a 1994 chevy blazer interchange with a 2001 chevy blazer?

Not even close. There are two totally different pumps for '94 models and neither one is the same as a 2001 model. GM is famous for constantly changing things.

Drove Blazer with no problems turned off for about 5 mins would not start hooked up to jumper cables would not start left hooked up to jumper cables for about 15 mins and started up got it home and started it 4 or 5 different times in drive way with no problem. Drove Blazer 3 miles turned off for about 5 mins and would not start again. Towed it home has been sitting for 4 days and will not start. Put new battery in still no luck. Thinking it is the Fuel pump but want an opinion before I go and buy the part. Turned Key to on position and listened near the fuel tank no noise at all so Fuel pump is all we have come up with. Any other ideas or is that your guess too?

All you got is 2secs to hear it come on than the fuel pump relay de-energizes-get a helper and you listen before the key is turn to run position

Hello Replacement procedures for your vehicle's fuel pump are below.. REMOVAL: Properly relieve the fuel system pressure. Connect the negative battery cable. Using the GM fuel gauge sending unit retaining cam tool No. J-24187, J-36608 (or equivalent) or a brass drift and a hammer, remove the cam locking ring (fuel sending unit) by twisting counterclockwise. With the locking ring released, carefully lift the sending unit from the fuel tank. Remove the fuel pump from the fuel sending unit, by performing the following procedures: Pull the fuel pump up into the mounting tube, while pulling outward (away) from the bottom support. When removing the fuel pump from the sending unit, be careful not to damage the rubber insulator and the strainer. When the pump assembly is clear of the bottom support, pull it out of the rubber connector. (((A brass drift and a hammer can be used to loosen the fuel pump locking cam))

INSTALLATION: Inspect the fuel pump hose and bottom sound insulator for signs of deterioration, then replace, as necessary. Push the fuel pump onto the sending tube. Using a new sending unit-to-fuel tank O-ring, carefully lower the sending unit/fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank. When installing the sending unit, be careful not to fold or twist the fuel strainer or it may restrict the fuel flow. Secure the sending unit by turning or driving the lockring clockwise and into position under the tabs. Install the fuel tank assembly to the vehicle. Connect the negative battery cable and check for proper pump operation. Thanks for using 2CarPros.com!

what fuel pump do i need for a 1999 chevy blazer 4wd 4 door?

I found this in online partsbook, about 318 bucks. You can get cheaper fuel pumps.

Ok, after I drive awhile and shut the car off, it won't start back up for a couple hours. When this happens I cannot hear the pump kick on. Is it a bad fuel pump or could it be electrical?
I'm not a big car repair guy so hopefully someone can help? My scan showed O2 sensor heater circuit. Could this cause it not to start? Thanks

Hi:
Chances are the O2 sensor has nothing to do with the no start. It may be causing poor engine performance or bad gas mileage. As far as the fuel pump, you will need to check for power to it when the car won't start, or have it checked for fuel pressure. If there is no power to it, I would start with a fuel pump relay. If the pump is getting power and not working, it will most likely need replJoeaced.

Keep in mind, the pump is in the fuel tank, so make sure you don't hear it before trying to get to it.

I started my truck the other morning with my command start, I went out, it was running, went back in and it had stopped running. Wasn't sure if it was just out of time. My truck would not start after this. I have a feeling it may be the fuel pump but how would I check for that? Would like to eliminate the cheapest options first. I got my filter undone enough to loose some gas into a container, gas looks good. Please help!

When you turn key to On position-do you hear the fuel pump come on for a few secs? If not Check the 20 amp fuse see below if okay look for power at the gray wire at the fuel pump connector You need to check fuel pressure with a gauge-

I'll be driving down the road in my 97 blazer and everything is running fine. Then gauges on the dash will drop and the blazer completely loses power for about 2-3 seconds. The air bag light will flash and the battery light will light up as well. This problem has been going on for months...but recently its gotten worse. When i put the key in the ignition and turn it, it takes about 30 seconds for the dash lights and everything to turn on before i can completely start the vehicle. If i try to start it before the lights come on it just turns over forever. I took it to the mechanic thinking it was the fuel pump but was told that the fuel pump was fine just not getting power. Please help?

Did he do a fuel pressure check by jumping off the fuel pump? And for you -Do you hear the fuel pump come on for a few secs when you turn key to run position.

1996 Chevy Blazer

I was driving down the road and all the sudden it felt like I was no longer stepping on the gas. It would accleerate but just a little and it continued like this till I got home. Now the car won't start. Do you think this would be a filter or pump issue?

wow it could be either, but obviously your gonna want to go the cheapest way first , which is the filter. but dont be surprised if the throttle position sensor is the culprit. as all three of these items have the same symptoms when they go bad.

is there a check engine light on?

dont forget about the fuel pressure regulator.

i have a problem with my blazer the fuel pump will keep running when you turn the key off. the only way i can get it to shut off is by unhooking the battery or pulling the ecm batt. fues could you please tell what to do

Hello, you might check the oil pressure switch. This is the only location I could find.

The o/p switch in the fuel pump circuit, may get stuck in the closed position, if it does, the pump will run continue to run.

95 s10 blazer 4.3 no voltage to fuel pump when first turn key. this is supposed to prime. i do get the 12 volts when i try turn the motor over. help

Check and test the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump and oil pressure sending unit-also are you getting an injector/s pulsing

I was driving along when my truck started acting like I wasn't pushing on the gas even though I had the gas pedal to the floor. it acted like i had gotten bad gas even though that wasn't it. now it just completely died on me.

I had the same problem with my 97 blazer. The first time it was the fuel filter. The second time it was the fuel pump. The third time it was the catalytic converter. It rusted through and was clogged. I would change the fuel filter first because a do it yourselfer can change this and it is cheap. I would also see what kinda shape your converter is in. When my converter was clogged, I had to "floor" the truck just to get it going. You can also check the fuel pressure too.

I was driving to work today and my truck started running kinda rough like it was starving for fuel... How can i figure out whether its the fuel pump or not? once it started acting up i immediatly pulled over and shut the truck off and then it would not start back up... Got it towed home and went to work. Got home from work and tried starting it and it fired right up but after running for bout 10 minutes it started all over again. shut it off and now it wont start again. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

If the engine doesn't start, check to see if you have spark and fuel to the engine. Chances are one will be missing. Let me know what you find, and we'll go from there.

Truck will not start, as though theirs is no gas. If I pour a little gas into the fuel injectors, the truck starts immediatly, then dies. Is this the fuel pump?

If so how do I diagnosis if the pumps bad, an electrical problem, fuel filter etc.....

When the last time you've replaced the fuel filter? If okay Tee-in at the fuel filter and check the fuel pressure should read 9-13psi
