We received a message from our previous question. The problem still exists concerning the high speed whinning noise. We took a long distance trip this weekend. The whinning noise started again, but is not constant. When I reach a speed of 75+, the whinning starts. I then slowed down and put the vehicle 4WD High and the noise stopped. I continue driving in 4WD High for many miles, shift back into 2WD High and the noise does not occur again immediately, but occurs sporadically. Thank you for posting your response regarding pinion bearings and possible rebuild, but I don't think that is my problem. My taking the vehicle out of 2WD high and putting into 4WD high does not seem to be the answer. Help!!!!

if the noise changes from 2 to 4 wd then your noise is either from the transfercase or the front differential. have you checked the trans fluid level in the transfer case? have you checked the gear oil level in the front diff? these front differentials have thrust washers that wear out and can cause the noise but it will have to be checked out.
