1998 Chevy Blazer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My ignition switch will not turn when key is fully inserted. The door chim comes on but unable to turn key. Have tried moving gear shift and turning steering wheel to no avail. Can I remove switch and get the Blazer back home from grocery store?

It isn't that easy. Either you have a bad tumbler or the actual switch has gone bad. To replace the tumbler, the steering wheel will need removed and part of the steering column. Because of the air bag, I recommend having it done by someone with experience. It can be deployed by accident.
