1997 Chevy Blazer Transmission acting sluggish

When I press the gas to take off in drive, there is a lull for about 5 seconds before the vehicle will take off. It shifts through the gears fine while driving, the problem is taking off. I was told to change the transmission filter and possibly the transmission control solenoid. I don't know where the solenoid goes. I always have to drop it in second to take off like normal. dont' change your fluid, to many miles on it and it will take the gule off the clutches. it sounds like the seal is going bad causing this and if you can put up with it just drive it until the trans goes completely. or take it to a trans pro and let him give an opinion after diagnosising it..
