1997 Chevy Blazer axle not disengaged

1997 Chevy Blazer

on my 4 wheel drive its making grinding noises i tryed to take it out of 4 wheel drive and it feels like it is but it has terrible grinding noises. if my axle isnt fully disengaged what do i do to fix it and is this a major problem?

does it sounds like a baseball card in the spokes of the boke rim. there is a vaccum switch on top of the transfer case that sticks and wont alow the actuator on the front diff to disengauge. take a look at that
