the serp belt is squeaking. my husb bought some
belt dressing from Autozone hoping to quiet the noise. The noise it is making now is outrageous! I suggested tha it sounded to me like the belt was slipping, which a mechanic verifed over the phone. my question is how do i tighten the tensioner? How do I know how tight to make the belt?

the tensioner automatically puts the correct amount of tension on the belt. have you replaced it? if not do so, also, it may be a faulty tenioner causing your problem. but try the belt first
